Meet Rev. Ike Pritchett

Edifying Ministries has been operating as a five-fold ministry in the Body of Christ for 30 years.   Rev. Ike has been invited to share specifics on sexual strongholds and financial deceptions with church congregations, special youth focused events, prison ministries, and to athletes of all levels.   

Growing up on the streets of Hampton, VA, Ike had a Christian two parent home: one of the only two parent homes in his neighborhood. Unexpectedly, his mother suffered a heart attack and passed away right in front of him at the age of 16. Angry at God he turned to drugs, alcohol, sexual promiscuity, and a host of other unlawfulness leading him down a slippery slope of destruction.  He eventually dropped out of college at Norfolk State where he was playing football.  

Though he knew of Christ his entire life, his true conversion experience came when he was 19 surrendering his life to Christ as the Lord of his life. During this time, he prayed and fasted for 7 days in his father’s attic casting out spirits of abuse, sexual deception, and other works of the flesh he was previously associated with.   Old things passed away, he gave up the things of the world and became as intense about Christ as he once was in favor of sinful and riotous living. Facing various tests, trials, and temptations, he became impervious to his past learning to walk in the freedom wherewith Christ has made us free. He dedicated his whole spirit, soul, and body to the Lord and advancement of the kingdom.

God provided an opportunity to remove himself from what was familiar in Virginia, relocating to New Jersey. Here he worked odd jobs before finding his true purpose in the kingdom.  He joined a strong ministry to hold him accountable to walk in victory. God then opened a door for him to live with one of the greatest linebackers in the NFL in the New York area, and now Hall of Famer. This experience created the opportunity to observe, first-hand, the temptations and strongholds that attack and deceive not only professional athletes, but young men and women who attempt to model themselves after athletes. It equipped him to learn skills to minister effectively to the "up and out" of all walks of life who are successful in the eyes of the world, and the "down and out" of all walks of life who have failed trying to achieve that, or a similar measure of success.  In both cases the key ingredient for lasting and true success being an intimate relationship with Christ. It was here, coupled with the ministry holding him accountable, that Edifying Ministries was birthed in 1990. Empowering believers to know, understand, and walk in their God given authority has been the mission and driving force behind Edifying Ministries ever since!
